What are SME eBooks?

SME eBooks are digital e-reader ready versions of SME's popular books and proceedings. To view the complete library of available SME eBooks for purchase, please visit the SME Store.
 

How do I know if I am looking at an SME eBook in the SME Store?

You can spot an SME eBook by looking at the product image and seeing the small button icon at the top left of the book image. In addition to the button icon, within the product you will see a section in the description About SME eBooks and Delivery of eBook. If you have questions about available eBooks, please contact SME Books at books@smenet.org.

Purchasing and Accessing SME eBooks

Once you have completed your purchase of an SME eBook, you will receive an email within a few minutes that contains a link to download your new eBook. Reading SME eBooks will require the (free) Adobe Digital Editions Software. Be sure to download the Adobe software before you download your SME eBook. 

1. Clicking the download link in your email will download the URLLink.acsm file. If you have purchased multiple SME eBooks, we recommend downloading each file into a separate file with the name of your eBook to make it clear.
    
2. Now, open the Adobe Digital Editions software and select to open the URLLink.ascm file from your computer. This will download the SME eBook into your Digital Editions library. Repeat for each SME eBook as needed.
    
3. Once you have completed opening your SME eBook(s) in the Digital Editions software, you may delete the URLLink.ascm file(s).

Prefer to download your new SME eBook to your iPad? 

You may use either Adobe Digial Editions or Bluefie Reader. View the instructions here. 
 

When purchasing an SME eBook for the first time, you will be sent a confirmation email containing a username and temporary password to access your digital bookshelf. Please save this email as it contains the link to your digital bookshelf and access to your SME eBooks.

To access your eBooks, please visit http://sme.promotions.eb20.com/Account/Login and enter your login credentials (email address and password). If you have forgotten your password, please enter your email address and select Forgot Password? to begin the password recovery process.

1. Open your browser on the computer you will be using to read the eBook.
2. Log into your SME Bookshelf at http://sme.bookshelf.eb20.com.
3. Select the title that you would like to download.
4. Click on Download My Book.
5. You will be presented with a screen to choose what type of download you want to perform.
6. Select Windows or Mac OS (Desktop/Laptop).
7. In the Step 2 column, select the desired format, either PDF or ePub.
8. In the Step 3 column, read the instructions regarding the installation of Adobe Digital Editions and the Adobe ID.
9. If you already have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer, and you already have an Adobe ID, you may skip to Step 12.
10. Otherwise, if you need to install Adobe Digital Editions, click on Install Now under step 3 to download the Adobe Digital Editions software.
11. Once you have Adobe Digital Editions installed, open the application and enter your Adobe ID. If you do not have an Adobe ID, please click on Create an Adobe ID and follow the directions on Adobe's website to create your ID. Return to Adobe Digital Editions, enter your new Adobe ID credentials to login to Adobe Digital Editions and authorize your computer. Once authorized, proceed to step 12.
12. On the SME Bookshelf, click on Download My Book.
13. Your SME eBook should download to Adobe Digital Editions. 

1. Open your browser on the device you will be using to read the eBook.
2. Log into your SME Bookshelf at http://sme.bookshelf.eb20.com.
3. Select the title that you would like to download.
4. Click on Download My Book.
5. You will be presented with a screen to choose what type of download you want to perform.
6. Select iOS or Android.
7. In the Step 2 column, select the desired format, either PDF or ePub.
8. In the Step 3 column, read the instructions regarding the Bluefire Reader app and the Adobe ID.
9. If you already have the Bluefire Reader app installed on your tablet or smart phone, and you already have an Adobe ID, you may skip to Step 12.
10. If you need to install the Bluefire Reader app, tap the Install now button. This will open the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store on the Bluefire Reader page. It is a free app. Install it, then return to the page in your mobile device browser.
11. Otherwise, if you need an Adobe ID, tap the bold words “clicking here” to sign up for an account. This will open a new tab in the browser and take you to Adobe’s website. Create an account there, then return to this tab for the next step.
12. If you need to install the Bluefire Reader app, tap the Install now button. This will open the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store on the Bluefire Reader page. It is a free app. Install it, then return to the page in your mobile device browser.
13. Once you have an Adobe ID and the Bluefire Reader app installed, click on Download My Book.
14. Tap the Open in “Bluefire Reader” button.
15. Your SME eBook should download to Bluefire Reader. This will take several minutes; longer for bigger books or slower Internet connections.
