The CORE Safety initiative is an industry-wide partnership built on a foundation of leadership, culture, and health and safety systems. Led by the National Mining Association (NMA), the CORESafety approach to mining safety and health focuses on accident prevention. Its objective is to have zero fatalities and a 50 percent reduction in mining’s injury rate within five years (0:50:5).
